Bios Password

I bought Panasonic Toughbook CF-73, from ebay.
everything working fine, i have just noticed that the Bios has password protected. the reason i have found that i need to format the windows and it doesn't boot from Cd-Rom it goes straight to operating system.

They said Password Reminder will show me the pass, but tried everywhere and couldn't find one that works.

I know by removing the battery will help but i have no idea and knowledge of how to and i wont be able to do.

Is there any other way around?

So if i want to re install OS whats the best way?

You can install new OS normally with a bootable system CD but that doesn't remove the BIOS password either, if that was the thing you were after.

I think updating the BIOS via a floppy etc. removes the old password but I'm not absolutely sure about it.

Thank you guys but none was help for me all i want to do is to reinstall windows. but like i said i cannot get it boot from cd:( is there any other way around to install windows?

Oh sorry, now I see man. Well, you can go to DOS prompt during rebooting via the start up menu of your system and start the installation by browsing to your CD-drive in DOS prompt and launching the setup/installation.

Or, start the installation in Windows but I think it requires that your Windows installation CD includes an installer that can be used for installing Windows directly from Windows.

What is the manufacturer of your BIOS/MOBO/computer btw? Backdoor password for accessing the BIOS and changing the boot order would definitely be the easiest solution.

Edit: Crap, you said it already that it was Panasonic. Anyways, didn't find any BIOS backdoor password for it via google.

Usually somewhere there is a jumper that you can move to reset the CNOS without removing the battery. At least there is on normal motherboards not sure about laptops tho.

i tried to open it up and get to the battery but after so many screws i gave up it is to complicated, all i need is to change the boot load, damn.

Wiz, read my first post + link. Apparently, resetting the CMOS is not possible with a laptop/notebook. Contact your BIOS provider for help.

isn't it possible to just install it from Windows? I mean insert the CD and start installing. As far as i remember, i did install my XP once like that, but that was on a desktop. pls excuse me if things aren't the same with a laptop.

OK removal battery for 8 hrs. it did work. what i did is i removed the battery for 8hrs. and then put it back but kept the hard drive out and restarted it did work. now i have changed the password.
