Is there anyway Samurize could support different configs/ instances for different virtual desktops? I don't even know if I'd use this feature 24/ 7 but it seems like it might be something useful.
I know users could probably use the Instance Manager to assign different configs to a specific monitor in a multi-monitor setup but how about virtual desktops on a single monitor? In all honesty my upcoming example could probably be done with plugins like configslider/ configregion or some other plugin that puts a config on all virtual desktops and hides the content until the user chooses to display it but perhaps in some situations users would like to keep their virtual desktops completely separated? My laptop for example. Obviously it only has one screen but it would be nifty to make one virtual desktop for a browser window and disk/ network activity is shown and another virtual desktop for a media player window and TV schedules/ RSS feeds are displayed. Or what if more than one person shares a computer and they don't want to have separate user accounts? One virtual desktop could show the config that person A wants while the other virtual desktop could show the config that person B wants? And they can just switch desktops when they go to use the computer. All the while leaving the other desktop's windows, config, etc. intact for the other user? I'm not suggesting Samurize become bloated and become a virtual desktop manager itself but is there any way different configs/ instances could be assigned to their own virtual desktop or that Samurize could integrate support for popular virtual desktop software like the PowerToys virtual desktop manager or Litestep's own virtual desktop feature? For all I know, this kind of functionality is already possible, with or without plugins, so if it is please let me know. However, if it is not, is it possible or would others even like to see it? Could be a great feature.
![]() But, could be a pain in the ass to develop too I think. There's plenty of different virtual desktop apps and I wonder if this would be possible to develop as cross-software combatible. |

The compatibility between different virtual desktop managers is something I figured would be difficult, or at the very least, tedious.
I know I said I don't want Samurize to become bloated but perhaps a virtual desktop feature would be the best bet. That would eliminate any need for compatibility with 3rd party programs. Perhaps it could be fully integrated like the Instance Manager? Now that I think about it I don't really think it would bloat Samurize but then again I'm not a developer, so I don't know what would be involved in developing such a feature. |

I've looked at coded my own virtual desktop app before and its not a simple thing to code. In theory this should be possible to do now as long as the virtual desktop allows the pinning of samurize. You would then load one samurize for each desktop that would be pinned to that desktop. Usually most virtual desktops allow the pinning of an application.
