It would be really cool if there was a way to store a config on a server and then point a bunch of computers in a lab at it so that whenever you want to add a new meter you can just add it to one config.

That's something you can do with remote Authoring, where a Remotecomputer downloads the .ini from the Host you store the "Motherconfig" - you can even do it with Visual Basic Script and "filesystemobject.Filecopy".
