Does anyone know a hack for defining where windows arranges a file which is downloaded to a desktop?

I had in mind to use a config on the top left corner but I'm a big fan of saving everything from the web to my desktop temporarily and then the downloaded files would stay below my config so I'd need a way to hack the registry (or some other solution) so that it would save the files for example bottom left corner instead.

Gimme some. smil448cbe8c8a5b1.gif

not quite sure what you mean but i think there is a hack to get doze to to start showing its icons from top right corner to facilitate scripts (that's language scripts) that write right to left. and the hack allows you to apply it anyway. but i can't remember where i saw it but that may help you track it down.

With my packed desk I could sure use a hack like this...usually I need to hide a config, get the download...I did add quick right click hide command line options to all my configs for an easy way to get rid of a config temporarily smil3dbd4d6422f04.gif

Here's one conversation close of the subject. Those WinTidy2 and IconLock can be a worth of a try. Only wondering can they place downloaded files automatically to user defined position too.

this is not exactly a solution ur problem, but prolly an alternative that u can try out.

what u can do is create a folder on ur desktop, and make it hidden (attrib).
then configure all ur downloads to go to that folder, and make a meter linkage in ur main config to that folder.

also, instead of configuring all ur downloads to save to that folder, u can add another meter linkage with a command like this -> %path% move *.* %path2% *.*
(note, %path% is the path to ur desktop folder & %path2% is the path to the newly created desktop folder)

i call this the sammy desktop cleaner smil3dbd4e5e7563a.gif

I'd prefer non-Samurize solution though. Want to keep it simple.

smil3dbd4d4e4c4f2.gif thanx kevin
actually, first i was thinking of an auto desktop cleaner (have the desktop folder size monitored, and add an alert value to exec the move command when size increases) but that would be problem when a particualr download is in progress.

a simpler solution than that would be a registry mod as u said, but that may be hard to find. gl with it anywayz smil3dbd4e398ff7b.gif

Hard to find indeed, even google is not giving any answers, few ppl have searched the same registry thing as well. I'll keep on searching. smil3dbd4d6422f04.gif
