Network activity, incoming and outgoing, shown at the top in the graph.  Disk utilization comes next and was accomplished using four separate pie charts for each disk to create the effect.  RAM and CPU statistics followed by the three-day weather outlook.  E-mail notifications and date/time information follows thereafter.  Those lines used to separate content were made with just two 5x5 PNG files with one pixel lines (one vertical and one horizontal).  Then, depending upon which direction you're going you can just stretch the graphics without any loss of quality.  Just figured that out.  :-)  Mad props and other information on scripts listed below.

Things to do:

Maybe slice my Control Panel 1.0 layout so I can make it longer and add more information.  I'm not big on too much useless information (screen resolution, et al.).  Furthermore, I'd rather not commit that much desktop real estate if it's just going to be covered over 90% of the time.  What I have is small enough to be seen when my browser is open anyway.  Is anybody ever completely satisfied with their configs anyway?  Maybe I just make some PNG circles for the disk drives and add some shading.

I would just try one or two fonts if I were you, but it does look okay.

Nice idea about the PNG lines. You could also just use a bunch of underscores/pipes in a text meter.

The config's nice. But it's a little hard to read, and everything seems mixed together. I also thing shaded PNGs for the pies would look nice.

The advantage of the PNG method is you don't have to type all the characters and then switch to another box in the editor to see the change. Just drag the bounding boxes and see the results.
