I have to start by saying a huge thank you to David Wheeler and Hans Heigenhauser who jointly wrote the script around which this meter has been constructed.
I have edited it slightly to suit my own needs, adjusting the cut-off values in the 'signalstrengthbar' function but the main body of it remains the same.edit:
Hans Heigenhauser has informed me that the script doesn't work in Vista and that there is no plan to adapt it to do so, so potential downloaders should be aware of that.
Also, my thanks to uziq for the TextFX visual plugin which is also used in this package.
This is just a small meter to show the signal strength of the wi-fi network you're currently connected to. It's nothing spectacular or breathtaking but I happen to think it's kinda neat, so I thought I'd share it with everyone.
If you want to see it in a 'real life' situation, then it's in the top-right corner of this screenshot
Everything you need is included in the zip file, in case you don't already have some of the necessary files.
So there's the script which actually reads the signal strength, there's the visual plug-in to get the text to display as it should and there's the folder full of images to allow you to display the blue signally-bit.
Any questions and I'll try and help but since this is mostly just a repackaging of other people's stuff, I can't promise to know any more about it than you do...
