Description:
It is a plugin that calculates the frequency of the CPU in MHz. It is useful in mobile computers when CPU frequency is changed dynamically. The plugin uses Pavlos Touboulidis CPU frequency calculation algorithm which can be found at http://www.codeproject.com/system/cputest.aspVersion 1.1 - added option to set CPU calculation thread priority/class These parameters are useful on slower machines (sometimes mouse cursor freezes when CPU speed is being calculated).

it's only updated upon booting, it's not dynamically calculated, as this plugin does it
i thought of using the same exact method and making this same plugin a few months ago, but didn't follow through with it...

This data is set only once when OS boots on my IBM laptop. I have Pentium Mobile CPU and its frequency is changed dynamically on battery power. I want to have accurate information about the current CPU speed every 10 seconds for example. If the PerfMon Counters are working fine on your laptop than use them. Good Luck!

This plugin is definately the exact thing i was looking for ever since i got my laptop.
i was the happiest man on this planet when i installed it but after realizing that each time the plugin polls the clock speed of my CPU, my mouse pointer will stutter, i thought this might not be true..
3d applications do also suffer from polls of that plugin.. so after all its unusable for me due to this.
would be glad if this could be fixed somehow.. any chances it will? :ninja:

I will try to fix it ASAP. I have no problems at all with this plugin. I have Pentuim Mobile 1.6 GHz CPU. Can you send me by PM your system specs (CPU, RAM, OS, ...), so I can test the plugin?

I had the same problem on my AMD64 3000+
I experimented with settings of priority class (recompiled the module for myself) and finally found what is working for me; To lower
REALTIME_PRIORITY_CLASS to NORMAL_PRIORITY_CLASS in call of CCPU:GetMHz() function.
The calculation is still enough precise but the mouse cursor is not stopping anymore. Maybe the priority setting can be passed to plugin as a parameter?
I think this setting will be individual for each system.

I have modified the DLL to accept as a parameters the thread priority and priority class. I cannot reproduce this problem on my computer and I can send it if someone wants to test it... Thanks!

Updated to version 1.1. I hope this will solve the problem with freezing cursor. Thank you all for reporting it!

Hmmm... I am just getting my default speed (3010 for a 3 GHz CPU), not the current speed, at the moment 3302 MHz according to CPU-Z while compressing some video... Am I doing something wrong? I've got an ASUS system with AI NOS set to 10% overclocking on high load.

What are some good defaults for the Thread Priority and Priority Class values??
It'd be useful to know settings for:
a) high priority, want accurate CPU calculation.
b) medium priority, run just like another program.
c) low priority, let all other apps have priority over this.
I want my update interval to be high (2-5 seconds) so it will update quickly, but my priority to be low so it will always give priority to other apps. Any suggestions? I'm going to assume Priority=8 for normal apps, and have no clue for the Class.

This plugin INTERFERES with the operation of the MagicJack phone device. It creates intense buzzing/garbling sound.
I have 100% confirmed that this plugin is the issue and have double, triple, and quadruple checked my results.
If you're running a MagicJack phone device, be VERY careful when running this plugin!
