Description:

Retreives your external IP address from http://checkip.dyndns.org/ (this is useful for computers behind routers and firewalls).

There are 2 versions included; an "international" one and a New Zealand-based one (counts as local traffic if you live in New Zealand

)

Changes in v1.5
- uses regular expressions (solves the  bug)

Since checkip.dyndns.org made a small change to their web page, the script doesn't work. You must edit the script and change line 38 to:

rightMark = instr( htmlResult, "</body>")

This does not seem to show my proper external ip. Even though checkip.dyndns.org shows the correct one.
Its stuck on the first ip that it showed the first time I ran the script.
I have rebooted/reloaded the config many times.
I do not use any proxie servers (at least none that I'm aware of)
Does vb cache pages somewhere?
(using 1.55)

Yes, it usually does. Try replacing the line that reads:

htmlResult = ReturnHTML("http://checkip.dyndns.org/" )

with:

htmlResult = ReturnHTML("http://checkip.dyndns.org/"&getRandomNum)

and add this to the bottom of the script:

Private Function getRandomNum
Randomize Timer
getRandomNum = Int(Rnd * 1000)
End Function)

I just managed to write a script to check the ip from www.whatismyip.com and it gave me the correct ip. o_O

Actually I didn't fix anything. The next time my modem crashed and I got a new ip, the script wouldn't reflect the changed. Even if I reboot/reload samurize.

When my connection drops out for a sec it gives the message: CheckConnected. Any way to fix this?

http://checkip.dyndns.org/ show always my own IP. That´s ok when i connected without public I-Net proxy. But when I connected with a pubic I-Net proxy it shows the same IP. That´s not ok. With http://checkip.dyndns.org/ it´s alway the same IP. Can You change your script to whatismyip.com or another? This site show the right IP when i have connected with a Public proxy server.

Looks like your script is the only one that could show my real external IP, however, it gives me the following error message:
[Error] Input past end of file
In ExternalIP.vbs (getExternalIP)
Line 109, column 2
What this could mean ?

Hi,I found a good ip address finder to check my ip.
http://www.ipaddressfinder.info
it gave me the correct ip.
This site show the right IP when i have connected with a Public proxy server.
