Weather 2004 Multilingual
|
| Version: | 0.993 | | Submitted Date: | 2008/5/13 |
| Submitter: | torsius |

Description:
This plugin will get lots of weather, for anywhere in the world - courtesy of weather.com's xml data feed. It has lots of features that have taken quite a while (to say the least) to put together. Take a look at the screenshot for a glimpse of what can be done. No weather icons are included with this release, click here for a comprehensive list of icon sets currently available. I'll keep updating the plugin as issues arise and as I feel the need to add new stuff (as I have been for a while now ) Please read the help file included with the package for installation/usage instructions. Enjoy! v.993 -fixed data retrieval problem weather.com had changed requirements in xml feed -added latvian language file (thanks snifs) -added polish language file (thanks shadow) v.992 -fixed details update tag, local radar image download, and alert links -changed all "tags" to XML compatible syntax, now all tags are [] instead of <> -added new tags to now and later, [sun] and [sundesc] -mapped "Sunrise" and "Sunset" in English language file under the Sun section, so it's translatable. ** v.991 update ** - fixed details offset problem - added option to disable certain localizations - added desktop wallpaper changer function - added support for "on the spot" locID's

The hourly icons now have a different moon phase showing for each icon (2-3 hours apart) e.g: Hour 2 - Icon 29_4.png Hour 5 - Icon 33_3.png Hour 8 - Icon 33_2.png is this correct?

you don't have to live in a city, but weather data is generally only gathered in "cities" just try to find the closest city to where you live

Great work We'll include this with the next Samurize release if you don't mind? Might have to get a weather fanboy (wiz, KMDonlon??) to provide a sample config for it too

Works just great! Feat request: at night it shows the moon icon. Would be to hard to make it show the right moonphase icon?

indeed it does show the moonphase, but only in icon sets that support it, look in the "icon collection" link I post in the details of the download, and look for "weather 2004 compliant" sets (only 2 so far) at the top of the list

Yes, but not in the IconCC function, but only in MoonIcon function. What I was saying was that I would be cool if at night, instead of just the moon icon (33.png) it would show the right moonphase icon (33_x.png). I know *ZERO* about how is it made, but what I mean is: IF CURRENT ICON=MOON THEN IMAGE=33_%MOONPHASE%.PNG

nifty service, but they don't seem to offer any additional functionality to the weather.com feed i had hoped they offered the "narrative" forecast in metric units, but they don't

Hi! Excelent work, indeed.
I just patched my system to SP2. Now the ConfigTool is asking me for MSCVRTD.dll when I'm editing my configs.
The "Test Function" buttom actually works and de ini file works as well in the Desktop.
Is just this Warning Message that are disturbing me.
Any clue ?
Edit: hummm...I just realize that is not a problem from Weather2004 plugin. Its from the ConfigTool. When inserting a new plugin, anyone, that message comes up.

it sounds like you downloaded a plugin that was compiled with the wrong parameters (mine should be fine) find out what plugins you've downloaded most recently, and remove them one at a time, to find the culprit

uninstall norton? i don't know why it would be causing that, sorry maybe put samurize on an "exception" list or something? so it doesn't block/stop anything from happening?

iggy, Norton have a protection to not execute scripts and block those scripts.. try to stop the auto-protect and run again your config... to run all scripts with samurize and norton, do you have to change "always for this..." or something... i hope it works..

If you want to put together a russion language file, please, do it! And send it to me somehow, so I can include it in future releases.
It's very easy to make one, simply start with the english template, and translate away!

Which character code did you use for the degree symbol? "°" or "‰"? Because it comes up broken with non-unicode regional setting set to other than English on Windows XP.

Your weather page looks great. I'm trying to create a weather page for my website and I"m also using data from weather.com. I was wondering where you got your radar maps and other moon phases? My free xml stream doesn't come with this info, any advice? Thanks. Great work!

I cannot get Weather2004 working! Every setting I try, it mentions N/A.
I try LocationID=NLXX0002 and won't work, even though weather.com provides this information to have the Amsterdam weatherforecast/actual weather.

I have been pestering him via email for some minor bug fixes Thanks Torsius!! The last issue that still seems to be there is the fact the the [details] still do not show in the proper order. Days 1,2 & 3 should toggle between today, tonight & tomorrow or after 2PM EST, tonight, tomorrow & tomorrow night. I have an older version of the plugin that I use for this function since the last 2 releases somehow have this mixed up. Otherwise, great update & thank you very much

Use 993 on WinXP SP3. Whenever the plugin reads data from the internet the Explorer is blocked. When the plugin is finished with reading the data the Explorer does everything what you tried to do before - reads out of the buffer. There is no problem until the next read.
This was the same with WinXP SP2 and 992.
Blocked Explorer means that you cannot do anything - not open a folder or switch to a different task. The programs still work - it is just the Explorer that gets stopped for a while.
Is there no help? Since I have a dialup connection reading the data and with this blocking can take a while.

It seems weather.com has changed their data-source. Can't fetch data. Does anyone have a solution?
