In the config editor, go to the Edit Meters tab, click on Add Meter and select Add ActiveScript. At the bottom of the Edit Meters tab you'll see a section titled Active Script. Select the script from the pulldown menu and then select the function to run.

If you want your network(local) IP address, use a WMI meter. Select Add Meter->Add WMI, click on the "Change Settings" button, and choose

Class: Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration
Instance: (select your NIC)
Property: IPAddress

Alternatively, you can use the ExtendedProps.vbs script (included with Samurize).

If you are behind a router or firewall and want your WAN IP, you will have to use one of the IP scripts in the downloads section.

Adobe Photoshop, GIMP for Windows and Paint Shop Pro can all make 32-bit (24-bit + transparency) PNGs.

NOTE: Samurize versions 1.25+ have JPEG, bitmap and GIF support.

Place a shortcut for Samurize into your Start Menu/Startup folder.

NOTE: Samurize versions 1.55 and later have a "Run on Startup" option in the tray icon's right-click menu.

Click on the '?' button to the right of "Format:" field for more field tags.

Also read SpectrumReadme.txt in your Samurize folder (v1.0+) for information about the extended media plugins, and look at the tutorials in the tutorial section.

With v1.50+ you can use Samurize's commandline options to start, stop and toggle Samurize instances. See the Samurize help file (press F1 in the Config Editor) for a complete list of the commandline options.

Alternatively, use Alderaic's Start and Stop tool.

Use the %l specifier for the link. Make the script output something like:

This is a news item%lwww.my-news-site.com

Allow meter linkage for the ActiveScript meter and put nothing in the link field, and when you click on the meter, it will open the desired page in your browser

NOTE: You cannot yet have multiple lines of text, with a link for each line - each meter can only have one link.

Right-click on your taskbar and select Toolbars->Serious Samurize. To remove the "Serious SamurizevX.XX" text, make sure your taskbar is unlocked, right-click the text and deselect "Show Title". To load a config in the taskbar, right-click in the space that the Samurize toolbar is occupying and go from there.

To remove/hide the toolbar, unlock your taskbar, right-click on it and deselect Toolbars->Serious Samurize.

Note: there is a known bug with undocking the taskbar client from the taskbar; read this FAQ for a workaround.

Get the latest version of MBM (Motherboard Monitor) from here: http://mbm.livewiredev.com/

Then install it and configure it with your motherboard (see the MBM website if you need help with this). Once all is properly configured and working, you can either close it and use the built-in MBM loader in Samurize (look under the Project Options tab), or leave it running.

Now just add MBM Meters in the Samurize config tool and slide the Sensor bar until you find the desired sensors. If they are defined a value should appear.

Alternatively, with Samurize v1.60+ you can use Speedfan ( http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php ) to obtain the temperatures etc. Add Speedfan Meters in the Samurize config tool. You need to have Speedfan running for this to work.

If you check out the Date/Time formatting syntax in the Samurize help file:

Analog options (With decimals for smoother analog clock):
%h Gives hours.
Min: 0 Max: 12
%m Gives minutes.
Min: 0 Max: 60
%s Gives seconds.
Min: 0 Max: 60

If you want to have three clock hands, one for seconds, one for minutes and one for hours, you'll need 3 Date/Time meters each with their Display Type set to Analog.

The seconds hand should have %s in the format box (source tab), using min=0, max=60, sweep=-360, start angle=90 (display tab)

The minutes hand should have %m in the format box (source tab), using min=0, max=60, sweep=-360, start angle=90 (display tab)

The hours hand should have %h in the format box (source tab), using min=0, max=12, sweep=-360, start angle=90 (display tab)

Newer versions of Samurize have a "Scroll" option for horizontal scrolling of text.

Alternatively, you can use one of the following scripts:

  • Text File Scroller Script
  • Text Scroll Config Program
  • Text Cycler Script

Place an empty text meter on top of the image and assign meter linkage to it. This way you can link specific parts of the image (eg. top half of the image can have a different link to the bottom half of the image).

The Samurize installer comes with a suite of Advanced Media Player Info (media-related) plugins and sample configs for using them, which are installed by default.

The sample configs are placed under the media subfolder of your Samurize/configs folder - it's a good idea to check them out first to see how they work.

If you have any troubles/questions, read the 'MultimediaReadme.txt' file in your Samurize directory, or check out the AMPI support forum.

Many thanks to Tropics, he created and maintains the AMPI plugins

The Samurize server is used in the same way as the client except that nothing is displayed on to the screen. The xml / png output can be used for what ever you desire. Some people use it to display on a website (for example an avatar), there is an xsl I believe around in the forums that will convert an xml file into a webpage.

Come On, Get Samurized!
